My Home Remedy/Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment

Every once in a while my hair starts to get dried out and frizzy looking. >_< And it just needs an extra boost.  So instead of buying expensive store bought deep-conditioning treatments and pouring excessive chemicals onto my head I simply go to my kitchen for a quick-fix! :)

All you will need are these simple ingredients!

Ingredients:
- Mayonaise ( 2tbsp. depending on thickness and length of hair you may use more )
- Honey (1 tbsp. - I try not to use TOO much honey because it will make your hair sticky )
- Egg (1 full egg )
- Coconut oil (3-4 tbsp.)

- OPTIONAL* Olive Oil (2tsp)

Combine all ingredients into small bowl and mix until blended completely. You will have a soupy mixture. Then, with your head over your sink (this is the messy part) apply the mixture to your hair (dry or wet strands). Work the mixture into the strands of your hair. Twist and pile your hair on top of your head and cover your head with plastic wrap, or a towel. I found that the plastic-wrap works better. This will allow the natural heat from your head to help the treatment seep into your follicles. :)

Leave on for 30 minutes- 60 minutes (or more). Rinse as you normally would in the shower with your everyday shampoo & conditioner & VOILÁ! Also, for an added boost of shine you can rinse with a tiny bit of fresh lemon juice to make your strands really sparkly.

Happy Healthy Hairs! :)

Despite the hardships that I face, and we all encounter daily, I continually try to make efforts to open, deepen my consciousness, allow myself to feel *love* in all that surrounds me.. & simply let the negative thoughts melt away. It is truly inspiring. We are all connected.
Namaste.

Chalk Drawing 2012

My 6th year at The Riverhead Art Festival turned out to be a beautiful, sunny day. Although there had been a forecast for  thunderstorms the rain held out for all of us in Riverhead. My 8 foot by 8 foot square was sponsored by JEWL'S Book Shoppe & Writing Center. I was lucky enough to meet the who owns the shoppe, which will be opening in a bout a month.

Since I had done Disney Princesses the past three years I decided to stick to the trend and draw Tinkerbell this year! I started with her big blue eyes and worked my way around and down to her green and white pom-pom slippers. Getting the perspective correct is tricky because you cannot move the street around like a piece of paper. Nor can you step back like when you are painting a wall mural. I always begin with the eyes and lay the design out in my head by taking a few steps around the square 'measuring' with my feet. Naturally, Tinkerbell was holding her magic wand and waving fairy dust around. To add an extra element to the piece I sprinkled glitter on the area of her fairy dust. The photographs wouldn't pick up the sparkle of the silver glitter but the added medium brought the drawing together very nicely. The little girls walking by loved it as well! :D

Mural for 2010 Holiday Season

As I dipped my paintbrush into the thick white paint on my palette the celebration of the Charles Dickens Festival continued in full blast. I can remember the sound of children laughing filled the decorated streets of Port Jefferson, NY. The shops were fully adorned with holiday trimmings getting ready for the holiday season. I began painting a wintery window mural at Kismet, a women's boutique on Main Street. The experience was unbelievably satisfying. I especially loved when the children would stop on the sidewalk, eyes wide open and smiling from ear to ear to watch me while I painted. :] Check out and 'LIKE' their Facebook page! KISMET
